Is distance learning a misnomer?

Yes, I would say so because the so called distance is actually the shortest physically. The distance between the computer chair and the monitor is the actual distance in e-learning.

I recall reading Ted Corbett in the local daily ‘The Hindu’; he wondered why it is called the dressing room in the pavilion when actually it should be called the ‘undressing room’-another misnomer.

So, distance learning should be actually called as e-learning’ but the meaning is conveyed-right?

A few years before, online universities were only a few but there are several options now. Students who are aspiring to take up e-learning should check if the university they have selected is an accredited one.

Capella University is an accredited online university functioning since 1993. It is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA), ncahlc.org.

Very recently Sara Orem, faculty member of Capella co-authored a book titled ‘Appreciative Coaching: A Positive Process for Change’ along with Jacqueline Binkert, PhD, and Ann Clancy, PhD.
