Jumo-a social network for social causes.

When I wrote a few years ago that online social network is going to swallow the whole world, I did not realize it is going to be a reality too soon.

Do you remember Chris Hughes, the co-founder of Facebook? Well, he has launched a social network for a noble cause. It aims to bring together like minded people who wish to see a major positive in the world.

Already, individuals and several charity and social service organizations are actively involved in the new social network called Jumo.

How does Jumo work?
Like all the social networking site, you can sign up for free but the only difference with Jumo is, you should have a Facebook account to join.

There are categories that include Education, Health, Poverty, etc. and you choose to involve in the issues of any category while signing up. You can also several organizations that show interest in the categories of your interest.

Sell excess cooked food.

It is not very rare that we see spare food.We often cook more food than needed. We promptly dump them in the fridge only to throw away in the garbage when the fridge is full.

What to do with spare food?

Here is an online network through which, we all can sell the excess food. This is for home only; not for hotels and restaurants.

Super Marmite is an online marketplace where home cooks can make some money out of spare food.

I think this is an innovative idea to:
* avoid wastage of food
* make money out of excess food
* to eat freshly cooked homely meals at discounted rate

Since it is a location based social network, house wives can list their location and the food and its quantity and willing buyers can quickly satisfy their hunger.

Find what is cooking in your neighborhood!

Social Network for finance.

I realize I am late in introducing this social network for finance but still, this might prove to be beneficial for everyone.

The recession has done something good for all of us in one way; it has brought us together in these difficult times. We are all now ready to download our financial worries on the shoulders of others who are also sailing in the same boat.

Probably this harbor will be useful for the sailors of sinking boats.

The Finance Network lets you connect with people to discuss real financial topics. Whether you want to strengthen your credit record, get the right credit card, buy a home, or to help out as a mentor - this is a great place to be.

What you can do in Finance Globe:

• Join clubs and connect with people that have similar financial goals or professions
• Learn and collaborate with our set of social communication tools
• Track credit card reviews and other areas of the site

There may be ways to repair the damaged credit. You may find something surprising to enhance your credit worthiness.

Finance Globe is free for all.

Visualizing community online.

We have seen social communities for myriad niches; there is even a social community for work at home moms.

How about a community for creative people like you and I? Wouldn't you like to know the creativity that can transform the world, your web experience or even your visualizing prowess?

I came to know a new online community called Visualizing community. It comprises of creative people working to make sense of complex issues through data and design!

What is that?

The site has too much to offer for all. For example there are many things for designers, teachers, students, bloggers and journalists.

New inventions in the field of data visualization, alternative energy and green movement are some of the topics covered in http://www.visualizing.org

New social network with a difference.

Look at where the web 2.0 is taking us. Unbelievable. New sites are using the web 2.0 feature for more and more brand exposure, internet marketing, blog promotion and communication between like minded people across the world.

Favit.com seems to be a Bulgarian site as I saw names that I can't read. Google offered to translate it.

Favit is mixture of Twitter, Facebook and a social network like others. You can let in your Twitter and Facebook friends in, subscribe to feeds you are interested in or import your existing Google Readers feeds, find people who share your interest and communicate with them and so on.

Start following users that create and share interesting stuff. This will help you easily discover great online things every day.

There is no information about the site owners and there is no 'contact us' tab.
