A recipe search engine.

A search engine dedicated exclusively for recipes and ingredients used in recipes is located at http://www.cookzillas.com/submit.php
Recipe web site owners and bloggers can submit their websites and blogs to be listed in CookZillas to enhance search engine rankings and to get targeted visitors.

If you visit the home page, you can search for any recipes or ingredients. This facility is for people like who like to cook new food or to know more about a particular ingredient.

I decided to test the effectiveness of it and typed in "Tulasi" also known as 'Basil'. The search result literally shocked me. There was no mention of it in the recipes shown.

I next tried to search for 'basil'. The result page matched it this time and yielded 80 recipes that had 'basil' as an ingredient.

Spread the word please!

World's largest recipe social network.

I am not a very good cook. In fact I don't like cooking but what to do? Being a female in India means life time cooking responsibility. However, I like watching many recipe programs in television channels. I especially like microwave cooking.

Do you know I never dared to try at least one recipe?

I don't eat garlic. However, garlic is one of the ingredients in many recipes. Today, I found out a web site dedicated to food lovers and cooks. In this site, a search box straightaway is prsented to you where you search for a dish you like without the ingredients you don't like.

Very convenient-eh?

Naturally, my first search was "sambar" without "garlic". I got the result! There were 13 recipes for my search term.

My next search was for cakes without eggs. There are 373 recipes.

There are more features in http://www.foodily.com
It is claimed as the world's largest recipe network that contains recipes of every kind from across the world.

50 ways to use Bacon.

Well don't accuse me for bringing out more recipe or food related websites. Even I am surprised at the turn of events.

It happened like this:
A well known food writer was asking me if I can do a regular blog posts on his writings. He is an international figure. I affirmed I can and while waiting for the order to fall through, I am practicing the impeding work.

Bacon-this is one item that is off the limits of our family of staunch vegetarians. But after all, I am not writing a recipe of bacon but only pointing my finger to where you can find innovative recipes!

Here is a website that shares its knowledge of using bacon in 5o different ways.

Malaysian Delicasies.

"Sambar Sadham"

The first Malaysian that visited my home three years ago was an industrialist having business interests in Japan apart from Malaysia.

That was quite an encounter that remain fresh in our memories even today and I hope to retain them for long. We had a great time conversing and sharing. Even though he was a big shot, he was unbelievably humble.

He made an excellent Malaysian food made of Basmati rice right in our kitchen. He said he did it in appreciation of the Sambar Rice ('sambar sadham' in Tamil) we served him with typical Tamilian porial and pachhadi.

Today, I visited another blog on Malaysian Delicacies and reading there a wonderful recipe of Jeera rice kindled my memories of that Malaysian industrialist.
